St John's Wood

St John's Wood is one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in London, with beautiful leafy streets and a choice of outstanding homes from period villas to modern apartments. Plus there are excellent schools and easy links to central London, the City and Canary Wharf.

The area gets its name from its medieval owners, the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. It was one of the first suburbs to be built in London in the 19th Century, boasting large, villas rather than the more typical terrace housing. Whilst many of those properties were destroyed in World War II, and subsequently replaced with new flats and schools, some remain. The area has maintained its original charm and atmosphere, leading to St John's Wood being one of London's most popular areas for families.

St John’s Wood is famously home to Lord’s Cricket Ground, Abbey Road Studio’s where the Beatles recorded and of course the American School in London.

Within a few minutes’ walk, you can reach Regents Park and Primrose Hill.

St John’s Wood boasts a Cafes, Bars and Restaurants and is home to a number of famous galleries.

The area is well served by the Jubilee Line at St John’s Wood underground and a number of buses into London. The Bakerloo Line is just a short distance away at Warwick Avenue or Maida Vale, Whilst National Rail and London Overground can be accessed in nearby West Hampstead.
